About
The iEMI Consortium is a regional initiative designed to transform higher education in non-Anglophone regions by advancing interactive English Medium Instruction (EMI).
We specialize in fostering active, student-centered learning environments across STEM and Arts disciplines through innovative teaching methods in English.
Supported by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research C, the iEMI Consortium connects EMI programs, faculty, and researchers with a shared goal of creating dynamic, interactive EMI practices that enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
Why
To promote interactive EMI practices by developing and implementing teaching strategies that prioritize two-way communication, hands-on learning, and collaborative problem-solving in EMI classrooms.
To build collaborative iEMI networks to facilitate collaboration and knowledge exchange between EMI faculty and researchers to continuously refine interactive EMI methods.
To equip faculty for interactive learning by providing specialized training and resources focused on interactive teaching techniques that enhance student participation, engagement, and learning in EMI settings.
How
We design and promote EMI teaching models that emphasize student interaction, critical thinking, and active learning.
We offer workshops and seminars focused on equipping faculty with skills in interactive teaching, including the use of digital tools, peer-to-peer learning, and real-time feedback.
We conduct and disseminate research on effective interactive EMI strategies and create a knowledge-sharing platform for best practices across institutions.
